Avery, 17m-Surgery Day
Smiley marks the spot, Lovie and pacie make it all better...along with daddy's lap!
September 22 Avery had tear duct surgery. She was born with a clogged tear duct that constantly matted her eye shut, every day. Quite frustrating. After she turned a year, the decision was made to do the surgery and permanently fix her little eye.
Her docotor was amazing. Dr. Mazow of the Houston Eye Associates. He is the most senior Optomologist in the practice and is loving and patient with children. Ryan and I felt such a peace about him preforming the procedure on our tiny girl.
She was given some"forgetful" medicine and then take back to the OR where she was put under and the surgery was preformed. It took 25 minutes! Fast. Dr. Mazow can to greet us and tell us that she a bone that had grown shut inside of her nose causing the clog. He drilled through it and placed a silicon tubing inside her nose and tear duct to help create a drain passage. The tubing is barely visible to me...I know where to look for it. Others cannot see it. The tubing will remain in place for 3-6 months, then be taken out in the office.
There was an immediate change in her eye post surgery! It was difficult to see her after she was awaken from the anesthesia. She was "mad" confused and in pain. She really did not like the IV in her left foot. Ryan and I both were a little emotional. It was hard to know she was "ok" when all you see is her screaming and crying. We did know in our hearts it was the right thing to do. Thank you for the prayers and well wishes for Avery. Her blue eyes have never been more clear and beautiful!
